Put down our cat yesterday.

Got a call from my wife at work yesterday. For the first time in 15 years we are cat less. Or last remaining cat Joey, got sick yesterday and we had to put him down. He was almost 14 years old and outlived all his brothers from the same litter. He developed the same problem as his brother did last year. His chest cavity was filling with fluid and they said it was most likely heart failure our cancer. So my wife made the decision to put him down.

Our 4 year olds daughter is probably the most upset. She loved that cat. But she is handling it well. She says he had to go to heaven.

Sorry to hear of this. I have had lots of cats, currently 3 of them and dread the day when it's time to put each one down.

Sorry for your loss. Our cats just disappear!

Oh, Mikey? chirp, chirp, chirp.....LOL :yah

Also sorry to hear. Some here do not like Kitty's as pets, and that is your right. But those of us that have them as pets, or a better description would be members of the family, it can be like the loss of a hu-mon. When the time is right visit your local shelter and give another "fur-person" the chance at a good life.

Thanks guys. I am not much of a cat person really. He's lucky I didn't kick him to the shelter after we moved. The first night we were in the new house he peed in the my daughters bedroom then the living room. The previous people had cats and dogs so he smelled them.
Now we get to replace carpets.

My wife rescued these cats from a barn when they were only a couple weeks old and bottle feed them because they were abandoned by their mother. So she really was attached to them.

We will enjoy being pet free for awhile, but I'm sure it won't last long. No more cats though.

Sorry for your loss.

We are cat-less now also.

Had to have our 18 year old cat named Dante put down about a month ago. He was just "old" and stopped eating then started having "accidents" all over the house when he couldn't make it to the litter box fast enough.

Boys were upset but they have moved on. A little over a year ago we had two cats and the wife's Pomeranian that were all elderly (15+ years) so it's been a rough year.

Still have the lab puppy (who's 77 lbs) and the rabbit.
