I believe he's saying the rad outlet is on the pass side and the water pump is on the driver side thus the funky lower crossover.
I've seen a similar setup offered for sale by Ron Morris where the water pump is on the driver side & the rad is on the left, when people are swapping in a 5.0 timing cover and keeping the original radiator. It was a formed, bent, polished s/s pipe with two short hose ends. Sounds like you have a home-made similar setup.
