Rear Brakes..........Cobra or 2005-2009 GT?

I have MustangSteve.com Cobra front brakes and really don't like the Versailles rear brakes I have now. I am planning a future project to replace the rear brakes with either Cobra (match the front) or go with 2005-2009 Mustang GT brakes. Steve sells both kits and I will likely use his stuff again. The GT rotors are slightly larger but not enough to really matter IMO. Does anyone know what is a better braking system?

I'll give you my 2 cents....
What are the front rotors, 13", right? You won't need much in the back. The Versailles rear
were like 10 and the Lincoln were like 11. The 10" rotors are more than enough. Don't know
what caliper choices you have but anything over 2 or 2.5" piston is too much. You'll generate
plenty of caliper grip and still be able to proportion it out.

The Versailles rear stuff is antiquated and the caliper was not the greatest design work.
(ball bearings on the actuator plate are too small to get adequate movement for the parking
brake feature)
Parts availability is another sore point on the Versailles rear setup.
I feel your pain.

The Stainless Steel Brakes 9" rear setup used to have some issues. I don't know if they've
been addressed..... it was a number of years ago when I had to re-invent the wheel on
those.

I've got cobra's all around... I initially installed the 13" front rotors and calipers but had to hold off on the rear 11.65 rotors until I got the correct bracket kit. So I ran it for several months with the 10.4 rear solid rotors and didn't feel much difference if any when I finally installed the 11.65 vented rear rotors. From what I recall, the stock rear calipers for a 94-04 Mustang are essentially the same as the cobra calipers except for the caliper pad bracket (closed) and they are painted red. The 11.65" rotors do fill up the rim a little better than the 10.4s so its at least an improvement cosmetically.

I ordered my MustangSteve.com rear Cobra brackets today. I'll start getting all the parts so I can do the brake swap next Fall/Winter. If I am really bored with the car maybe it will turn into an August project. :ecit
