Remote Start?

I've been think about getting my wife a remote start system for her daily driver. I am just starting to research this, but does anybody know if it can be done using the factory key less entry clicker. Or do you have to get one of those huge after market types? I am not really interested in the whole alarm setups so i am just looking to add the start feature. Any body have one, what types / brands do you like? What works well? Thanks

I have had 2 put on the wifes previous cars, I had a shop that specializes in installing them do it, not the kids at best buy, I had viper systems, no problems, I did not have the alarms and other stuff either, just the start, this one was set to "press the start button twice, car started and parking lights came on , it ran for 20 minutes then would shut off or it would shut off when you touched the brake, you could hit the start again and kill it also. when you got in the car you would put the key in and turn it to the run position then it was good to go, the park lights also went out when put in the run position, you had several different sequences you could have it set at,
seems like they were around 300 bucks--I would not do it myself and I have heard the cheapies are nothing but problems?

Thanks, I wouldn't think about wiring it myself, Im no where near that talented. :lol I know my limits and most automotive wiring is far beyond my capabilities. Did your wife have to carry around two remotes then, or would the viper one do all the normal car stuff? Doors, trunk, panic etc...

I can just see Deb having a remote start for her car, I'm afraid I'd go through starters and flywheels like Pete goes through Wattles :ep

It's the Wattles that goes thru me......

On the remote, just go for the best quality one you can. Friends had Vipers with no problems. I believe only one remote when all is done.

It can just be one remote, I forget the reason but she kept her factory and just used the viper one to start, it was not a huge fob.
