Restored my Grandfather's picnic table

Mid 80's my Grandfather made a picnic table for my sister and new husband. They had it and used it often until time finally took its toll a couple years ago. They moved back to Florida last Christmas and were going to toss it due to rust and rot. My response was no frack'n way. I picked up the parts before they left and stored it in the barn till it warmed up.

I spent the last 2 weekends cleaning, grinding and patching the rusted parts of the tubing. Repainted the frame parts with Rustoleum primer and topcoat and on the 2x material, radiused all the exposed edges, sanded it and then applied some water repellent. Nothing really fancy about the table, but it was the last project that Gramps built before he died. I'm really glad it's now in my possession!

Nice!! Now you have a place on the porch to sit and watch the Kansas storms on track days.

If there is a hell, you're gonna be the guy that keeps the fires burning.

Nice job. I'm sure your grandfather is pleased...

That's how history is lost, too many things, too easily thrown away.
