RF AV remote controls

We are about a month away from moving in our new house and I want to get as much "small" things taken care of as I can before the move. We had some cabinets built in the media room as well as the family room that will hold the electronics (cable box, dvd player...). The cabinet does not have glass doors so I will have to do something else for remotes to work. I have been looking at a Logitech Harmony 900 remote. It seems to be very nice and handle everyting I want. What are you guys using? Any other options that are better for the same or lower price?

I use my kids to get up and turn the dial for the antenna. It takes a little while to get where it needs to be but they've mastered the backspin on that thing.

(I have nothing to add if you haven't figured it out)

Have you looked here:

I was over a friends house, who is a A/V geek. He downloaded a app for his ipad and iphone, and it links into a RF remote that controls all his stuff. It's very cool. I'll get the name for you..

I use the Logitech Harmony 700 - not Rf, but works very well, and is highly programmable. This is my second one (3 yo 'experimented' with the last one), and I didn't even look around to see the alternatives, it works that well for me.

I will say the software is a little bit of a pain to figure out - it sets up standard activities based on your components, and then you can change them - although it's not exactly obvious how you do that. After you figure it out (help function of FAQ on the site), it's no problem. That said, it does make it where my MIL could program it, so I guess that's a plus for most.

FWIW, Logitech also has the app & remote portion to go with iPad, etc.

I appreciate the link to remotecentral.com. It was a helpful site. I found an incredible deal on a Monster remote over on Amazon. It looks like it is a resytled Logitech Harmony 880 remote and does a bit more than the Harmony 900, i.e. lighting control. I decided to pick that one up since I had a $50 gift card to Amazon my in-laws gave me for my bday last week. Total cost to me was $25 after the gift card was used. Not bad at all. If I don't like it it will make a good garage sale item or put it on ebay to recover the money. I may end up purchasing another remote that is not RF for my media room. I'll wait on that purchase until I see how this one goes.

I am interested in the info you get about the Iphone application. That would be pretty slick!
