Roller Bearing Idler Arm Kit

Hello, I wanted to change my idler arm over to a roller bearing but the kit I bought doesn't fit, the place I bought it from said it was only for the Shelby quick steer idler. I did not see that when I ordered it, the kit I got was Grab-a-trak 5280, is there not a roller kit I can get for a manual steer 1965 non Shelby idler arm?

Check with Opentracker: he may have them for you. He has a whole forum devoted to his shenanigans here on StangFix.

The roller idler kit you have will work on an original Ford idler or the quick steer idler.

Idler arms for the Mustangs have two types of bushings, large and small, the OEM and quick steer idlers use the larger bushing.

The aftermarket idlers, like the Moog K8106, use the smaller bushing and we have kits for those.

The roller idler kits are longer than the stock bushing, making the arm too long to fit the frame bracket properly. We turn down the idler body's so the roller kit will work with the stock frame bracket.

The idler arm that I have looks to be the original that came on the car, when I was cleaning it i saw a C4 part number. Would it be better for me to go with the Moog K8106?

I would try working with the one you have first. Odd that the quick steer idler kit wouldn't fit an original idler.
