running fuel lines to the rear of the carb?

i'm thinking of ways to "clean" up the front of my motor and didn't really like the rubber fuel line going up and over the front of the block.
here's my thought.....the exit fuel line from the mech pump goes back to the fender apron, goes thru a hole and grommet, up and along the
top of the inner fender towards the master cylinder. there, punch another hole, add a grommet and run the line along the firewall to the
pass.side of the carb. i'd flip the fuel log backwards facing the firewall and connect there.

maybe it'll keep the fuel cooler? any tips? suggestions on line type? should i run and bend hard line or go with that newer braided stuff?

thanks.

Good idea , but then I would mount a fuel pump nearby the gastank and reroute the fuel line like you suggested.

Shouldn't there be a hard metal fuel line that connects from the outlet port on the fuel pump and routes upwards towards the front of the carbuerator?

I did that on our 65 coup with the Cleveland. We have an electric pump back by the tank. The line goes in the engine bay under the MC and over to the back of the carb. I turned the dual feed line to the carb around, it looks slick. I used hard line and covered it with heater hose to keep any debrise from causing problems. I also de-wired the engine compartment so it is void of all wires and hoses as much as I could.

The '66 is run to the back a bit like John mentioned using an electric pump and an Edlebrock 600. Seems to keep the fuel a bit cooler too.

so, i see several recommendations for an electric pump. are you saying that rerouting the lines would require the add'l strength of an elec.pump?
from a cost perspective, i'd rather keep the mechanical, since it's new. anyway, i think i'll flip the fuel line on the carb and start the process.
i also like the idea of using hard line and using heater hose to keep it safe. i may also look into some of that new black braided line..."discreet" is
the goal.

thanks for the help.

Your manual pump should work just fine. If one is using an electric pump, it would eliminate the need for thr fuel lines to run to the front of the engine and then to the back....adding some extra line.

I agree. It would work fine. The mech. pump is more than up to the task. I have seen a lot of elect. pumps ran to the stock location and up to the carb. It's just plumbing, you can put it any where you want.
