I am heading over to the salt flat races next Month. I have never been to something like this so it should be fun. I don't plan on taking the car but will fly over to Boise and drive down with my Father in law ans brother in law. I can't wait to see what it looks like to see a car drive past you at 200+ mph.

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

Checked out their site, those late 20's early 30's roadsters look sweet. Should be without a doubt a great experience for you and the family.

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

be prepared to get a lot of salt on your car.....need a good underwash when you get home.

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

I would suggest taking a rental car if you are just watching......no cleaning involved.

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

I am jealous! I would love to go to those! The early hot rods are the coolest.

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

One of those places on my bucket list. Please give us the details on what to do/not to do when you get back. Have fun!

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

I was there in '04 and it was very interesting. It was actually more fun to be in the pits with all the cars. There's no restrictions on getting in. We just parked the cars and walked right into the pits.
Had good memories of it because 3 of us got a 2 page spread in the Mustang Times. Being there reminded me of being on snow, which sounds really weird but it's true.

I'll take some pictures and give a full review when I get back. When we are there we will see a concert one evening at the casino we will be staying at. I think it was Three Dog Night but I am not 100% certain. If so that will be a good time as well.

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

I've always wanted to go to Speed Week at Bonnieville. There's an outside chance I could make it this year. Hopefully, luck will prevail.

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

I leave tomorrow to head donw to Wendover. I"ll take some pictures and talk with lots of guys. I think I'll bring my shirt along that my grandma purchased for me. It says "Will talk cars with anybody".

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

Have fun---I hope it is three dog night at your hotel ---I heard them in Iowa 25 years ago, old hit after old hit.

Re: Salt Flats here I come.

I jst watched a car fly by at 310.5 mh. The record was 310.9. What sucks is he missed a shift. I just saw Ed Iskadarian, the 89 Tr old founder of Isly cams. Great guy! We talked for about 5 minutes. I do have a pic and he signed my shirt. I'll post pics when I get home in a few days. If anyone has ever considered coming to this you really need to! It is very cool!!!

I thought I would post a couple pictures that others may find interesting if you are looking for a ford intake.
