WOW, that has to be the most craptastic movie ever made. Deb and I took Ansel to the movies so he could be around a bunch of screeching kids, lots of food on the floor and a loud environment. It was a great training opportunity, but I wish I could get my $12 back. The graphics were pretty cool, the animation was good, but the story was godawful.

You can see how much Ansel thought of the movie.

I kept waiting for him to start howling!

I am sorry to hear that. I am a HUGE Disney geek. My son is 4 and has been to Disney World 6 times, and once on the Disney Cruise. We also own every pixar movie ever made. I love Disney/Pixar. I LOVE Cars 1.

But when I saw the trailers/read the basic synopsis of Cars 2 my "UGGH CRAP" meter went off. I said as much to my wife and she said "I know, but think about it, when has Pixar ever steered us wrong? The Toy Story Sequels are as good or better than the original." So I was still hopeful.

My 4 year old son and 15 year old daughter are at grandma's for the summer (Notice I've been posting, LOL) and saw it and both LOVED it, and I'm planning to take my boy again (and the girl if she wants to go back) as soon as he's back in town.

But I'm sad to hear it was a crapfest.

that was actually on my to do list, the boys wanted t see it when I get home and my wife won't sit through movies so we were going to go see it. Maybe something else...

I took the kids to see it. I actually enjoyed it. I didn't have great expectations or anything. I thought the graphics were amazing and the story was for the kids.

My kids loved it (boys, 5 and 7), but I thought it was a little dark for a Disney movie clearly marketed to kids. I'm not trying to shelter them from reality, but holy cow, all the guns, shooting, and talk of killing other cars... I was disappointed with Disney for that.

BTW, so I'm sitting here by myself replying to another topic and my boys wake up and come out. They start pointing at the smilies above the text I'm typing and ask "what's that for?" pointing first to the "great stuff" smiley. Then my 7 year old points at this one... :shee and says "I like that one, its funny."

WTF do I do with that? I say "yep, that is funny. Go get dressed..."

What was I saying about Cars 2? :guns Maybe we'll go see it again this afternoon. That might keep me from having to explain :shee to them. :hs

Disney has ALWAYS been dark. The first disney movie, Snow White included the queen hiring a huntsman to carve the heart out of Snow White and put it in a box. Fantasia had a scene of Satan and his demons. Pinnochio is like a psychodelic ride through hell, and Bambi's Mom gets blasted. Scar from the Lion King was a viscous murderer who spoke freely of his intentions. , Ursula from The Little Mermaid was obsessed with collecting the souls of merpeople for her disturbing garden.

And then there's the Heffalumps and Woozles scene from "Winnie the Pooh." If that doesn't ruin your childhood, you're not paying attention.

Disney feature films have often included dark and twisted imagery, and characters, many of whom show a fundamental lack of respect for the value of life.

Now I say ALL of this having not Seen Cars 2, maybe it's above and beyond...but I go into Disney knowing what Disney does. And,for me, I doubt the use of guns instead of a huntsman's knife makes murder less cuddly. Disney has always tread a fine line of trying to keep the older kids interested, with action, with adventure, and with fear, while giving the younger kids a visual spectacle to keep their eyes peeled. I grew UP on Disney films, and look how good I turned out?

Aww crap...

Its probably not all that bad, Mark just can't believe they can have that many track days and not have rain or grenade an engine.......

besides Disney, there were a whole lot of other cartoons we saw growing up that had bad messages. The one that sticks out most in my mind was underdog. He got his strength from taking a "Super Energy Pill"
If that ain't promoting the use of drugs I don't know what is!?!
Anyway. We always have to remember to teach our kids right from wrong. If we succeed, wonderful! If we fail, well that sucks for us I guess. I look at the mess my oldest son is making of his life and I can't see where I can blame cartoons or even what I have taught him. He is just making his own mistakes. I did it too. (not the same ones but mistakes none-the-less).
Anyway, maybe we will still go see Cars 2 just to judge for ourselves and spend time together!

Let's not forget Super Chicken and his "Super Sauce"

Then there is Alice in Wonderland getting "small" :sarc

No real point here, just that "medicine" is a part of our everyday lives and we need to teach our children the difference between feeling good and feeling better. :shrug

You do realize he is watching a cartoon while color blind right? Maybe thats the problem, he could only listen to it.

We saw Cars2 a couple weeks ago but it was at a drive in and it was a Mustang club function. The movie was OK, story line was weak but i guess the kids liked it. I had more fun giving grief to the Miata club that showed up also, both our clubs have the abbrev. 'MCMC' so they were a little put off that we parked our mustangs in the front row with them since it was reserved for MCMC...They had ~ 20 cars so I told the Miata prez., 'that's like what 5 spots for your cars?
Wife didn't like it much but it was the atmosphere of being at my 12yo's first drive in theater experience, hanging out. I had not been to a drive in since I worked at the last one open in the New Orleans area 25 yrs. ago. I'd love to open one myself.

Let me state that I LOVE "Cars" the original. Even though the story was typical hollweird fluff, it was still a fun, feel good movie. The sequel made me think it was all about cashing in on the first one and just tossing any ole' lame a$$ story together. That it bashed the oil companies did not help, but it was not unexpected. That stupid F1 car...good lord that was painful to listen to.

The musical score bites donkey donk too. I can't remember squat from the sequel, but really liked the original music.

I still liked Luigi and Guido!

Just got back from seeing it with my 6.5 year old. I don't think it was that bad. I like James Bond films too so I enjoyed that aspect of it but it sure did push the "alternative Fuel" agenda......
Asked my 6.5 year old what he thought...(mind you he's an absolute car nut)...he loved it. And you know what, in the long run, he stayed put, enjoyed what he saw and will probably want to get a few of the toys....and that's all that matters for me. Believe me, I've seen a buttload of craptastic kids flicks and this isn't even close to the bottom of the barrel.

An investment company bought out an entire theater and invited our Mustang club last Thursday night.
We took our 10 and 4 year old grandkids.
They had a great time and enjoyed the movie.
All the time while watching it, I'm thinking "this is way over their heads." But in the end it didn't matter to the kids.
But I was disappointed. Too many stupid messages for what is supposed to be just entertainment.
J.

I saw it yesterday and thought it sucked - the kids liked it, but it is nowhere near as good a story as the first.

I think they could have done a much better job with the concept.

Disappointed in Las Vegas...

I thoguht it was ok. Wife, son and I saw it yesterday. The Toy Story short before the movie was hilarious....
