Sea turtle

We are staying myrtle beach tonight. We just spent the last hour down on the beach in front of our hotel watching a sea turtle laying her eggs, then crawled back into the ocean. Pretty cool thing to see. Most likely a once in a lifetime thing for me. With no flash my pictures didn't really turn out. Jen got some better pictures with her camera, but I can't load them now.

There were a lot of people around taking pictures, flashing lights on it and trying to touch it so we called the dnr and they sent someone from the local police to protect it.

Speaking of layed eggs, did you visit Beach Pony ?

Not yet. We got in last night around 9 and we are only here for one day. Tomorrow we fly back home.

A number of years ago we were staying at a beach house in Sebastian, FL when the loggerhead turtles came ashore to lay eggs. Absolutely incredible sight as hundreds came ashore just after dusk. The Fish and Game people were quick to place barriers around the nests once the turtles left to discourage the idiots from messing with them.

Seen it here in HH a few years back. Big floaters coming in from ocean kinda caught you off guard at first. Pretty cool sight and probably never see it again.

those snapping turtles were snapping at my feet
Sure was hard swimming cross that thing
with both hands holding my ding-a-ling"

The "legendary" missing lyrics from Chuck Berry's song? LOL

Re: Sea turtle

My wife is big animal lover so for her it was huge thrill.

We were sitting out on the balcony trying to figure out what everyone was gathered around on the beach. I told her it was a body that washed up. She didn't buy it. So we went down to check it out. I know I will never see it again living in Wisconsin.

Never say never. All this global warming and melting of the ice caps may make your property into a beachfront oasis one day. :roll

Re: Sea turtle

That would be an awful lot of real estate that would have to fall into the ocean first.

very cool! Looks huge! sneak an egg back to wisconsin & throw it in the Chippewa flowage- :sarc I went on a 3 day fishing trip and couldn't believe all the snappers layin eggs everywhere about 70% were dug up and eaten by skunks though.

Ah, but your not going to be living in Wisconsin. Once you pack up and move to beautiful Surfside Beach, you'll be able to see them every year.

I might come even if I don't move. Sounds like a blast .

It's definitely a possibility. Have to wait and see. Although we just may be to white to move south. All of us got burned on the beach Monday. Kind of ruined the end of our trip.
