Seen an ultra rare Cougar (the auto kind Rick...) today.

Sluggo

The owner pulled up and started talking to me at the smokehouse we stopped at. He has a 68 GT-E Cougar XR-7 with a factory 427 in it.

25k original car. I got pics. I'll load them after dinner.

:roll :rant :roll :guns :char :shrug Dang how long does it take you to eat? I guess we know where you got your name Sluggo from. :pbj

Nice, when I was in high school knew a gentleman that work with my dad. He did Cougars and had a 68 Vert and a 67 GT-E didn't remember it having a BB though, it was a very nice original car though. Did all the GT-E's come with BB's?

I had to resize and cull about a hundred pics. Cut me a little slack pal! There is a few more pics in the gallery.

Anyway.... The owner's name is Ellsworth, you see him in a couple of the pics. He's a great guy. I could have spent hours talking with him. He used to own a GT-A also.

I'm glad he stopped to talk and made time to show me the car. Thanks Ellsworth!

According to what little I've read, yes. They were supposed to all get 427s but some of the later ones got 428 Ram Air engines. I have never heard of or seen one before today. What a treat.

Here's some info

What an awesome super muscle car. Solid lifters? The GT-E exterior trim and rear valance look great. To bad all Cougars didn't have these touches.

The All Ford show at Carlisle, PA always seems to attract at least a couple of GT-E Cougars.

That is my ultimate dream machine. I would love one with a sunroof and a 4 speed.

pretty sweet car.. ive never seen one .. or dont remember even seeing one at carlisle, looks like it was taken very good care of !!

I thought maybe all cougars had factory AC? thought wrong I guess?

I believe the car was from somewhere north off Texas originally. The original owner willed it to the current owner.
