Service dog...

Local news article.....amazing what can be done with them...seeing eye dogs were rare when I grew up.....now this type....and those that train them too. A true dedicated profession.

I've heard of dogs being used for diabetics, and all sorts of things including smelling cancer in patients. I remember watching Animal Planet and they showed a Great Dane who was trained to stepped on his owners foot to 'knock him out of it' when he went into this trance would stop. Dogs can be trained to do some amazing things. :thu

The service dogs from all the diff organizations really are something special! I have been fortunate to have lived with a "facility" dog from Canine Companions for Independence for 8 years and am currently a volunteer puppy raiser for CCI. If you ever get a chance to see a service dog in action, stop, ask questions. They really are something special!
