OK, this is news to me. Way back when I was collecting driveline parts for Shag, I was looking for a N case but never found one at a reasonable price, so I just went for a standard case. Well, when I finally got Shag up and running I had some issues with the rear end gears and so I took the car in to Aldo my transmission/differential specialist. We agreed that the gears I initially were too noisy and he found a set of OEM gears for me. Instead of putting these new gears into my carrier, he had this extra one available so he installed the gears in it, ready to go when I got there with the car. Quick swap and off I went, happy as a clam.
I never knew until today, while I had the green turd on my next door neighbor's rack, that the case he supplied was infact a N case. :thu
Probably doesn't mean shiatt but it's still pretty cool. :yah
As per a search "The N stands for nodular iron, which is made by adding magnesium to molten iron. What this does is change the grain structure from flakes to nodules - much stronger and less likely to fail under shear load."
And here I thought it meant for Naughty Nuns...... :shrug
