Shelby quarter windows or keep the vents?

I've always liked the 1/4 windows but my vent windows are in excellent condition. Would you finish the '66 look or say screw it and keep it the way it is?

I like the rear 1/4 windows over the vents, but in my 65, I've decided to keep the vents since they are in excellent condition. If it were a 66 I would likely take them out to and do the windows for a more accurate GT 350 clone.

Just my .02

I kept the vents on my 66. Thought about adding the window, but preferred the look of the vent more. It's just a personal preference. Do what YOU like!

Anybody have a pic of the inside of the 1/4 windows? I seem the cars upclose but always forgot to check the fit out. I've heard that it may be the deal breaker...

I did some research on it and IIRC you have to get different sail panels and they only come in black. Since my car is blue inside, it wouldn't work since I really don't like the painted plastic since it isn't very durable.

Also IIRC there is some molding like pinch molding on the inside....I could be wrong though.

I find it interesting how owners of early cars cut out the vents to install windows, and current generation Mustang owners that have 1/4 windows want to put simulated vent covers on the windows.
I would keep the vents.

Oh, I forgot. You would have to cut a support out so once modified there is no return without a bunch of work.

Another reason I chose to leave the vents.

If it were mine I would keep the vents as well. I think the 65-66 vents look great, much better than the windows. Just my personal opinion though, it's your car.

BTW, what color is your car? It looks to be a dark green met. but I can't tell for sure by the pic.

It's a lot easier to see what's on your quarter without the vents, which is why I removed mine. It's a restomod afterall. Do I miss the look of the vents? Definately. I went with functionality over asthetics.

Its a GM '01 dark green metallic. I liked it better than any of the ford colors, except for cmayna's Shag green

There, fixed it for ya.

Late to reply but I'll share my opinion anyway. I think the 65/66 had the best looking vents of all mustangs. To me, it makes the whole fastback look "work". I think you lose some of that "aggressive" look when you go to a window.

You're correct Craig. My colorblindness prohibits me to not completely enjoy your Green. :) I tested ivygreen up through '68s greens vs the one I chose.

If i remember right the shelbys were cut up pretty ragged to put the windows in. Not saying that you cant cut the supports out in a clean nice-looking way, but from the pictures that i saw it was a smash-and-grab kinda job back in the day. But i always loved the look of the 65-66 vents... Much beter than the 67-68 vents...

I totally dig the 1/4 windows over vents, and if it were my car I'd install them for sure.
