shifter handle

what shifter handle are you all using with t5's? i know the stock handle puts it out of reach for us short fellers.... i would like something thats comfortable as far as reach without extending the throw if thats possible.

I use a Slik Shift shifter with a Hurst handle (MD-504-1040). Both from Modern Driveline. On a good day I'm 5'7" in height. Works perfectly.

Thanks Bob, saved me the time of searching for it.... mine is the 5380179 I took a sharpie to the HURST logo on the side, then wiped it down so the black only stayed in the recessed logo.

Whats it look like? I'm using a 65 floor plate and a Lokar boot from Summit. I like the billet ring Craig has, thinking if it were a tad thinner it would be perfect.

You need to think about how you are going to fasten the bottom of the leather boot under the bezel. You do NOT want the bottom to start coming up after a couple extreme shifts. I welded up a very thin steel plate same basic dimensions as the bezel but very thin, with the 4 holes. I routed and wrapped the bottom of the boot around the thin plate, gluing it in place. Poked holes through the leather at the 4 holes. Make sure you have enough slack in the boot for reverse.

very nice!! :thu

i have one of the boots here off of a 2000-2004 model to use as a pattern for the upper part, so should be good on the "slack" part. also bolted up the shifter handle from the later tranny to see how it fit me & where i needed adjustments & the thing seems to fit me in the car very well, so gonna use it temporarily while i work the bugs out of the system.figure i can use it for a bit & see just where i want changes to be made then compare those specs to the shift handles available & get the right one for me.
