shifter is off compared to the gear....

hey all,
so awhile back, i installed a b&m shift kit and new torque converter. somehow in the process, the shifter and it's corresponding gear indicator got out of alignment.
park and reverse are really close together. neutral is up near the "R" indicator and "D" is near the Neutral indicator, etc, etc.
is this an internal adjustment with the trans parts out? or can this be adjusted without having to remove the pan and internals?

if it is a stock shifter & linkage, you have an elongated hole. see photo

you should be able to adjust at that point to get them in-line

B&M should be a cable, the bracket on the trans probably needs to be adjusted. Loosen it up and move it until the slack is out of the cable.

I read OP as B&M shift kit, not shifter... but I agree, if it's a cable B&M shifter do what Rick said!

oh no...sorry to confuse anyone....it's a stock c-4, but with a b&m shift kit only. stock shifter. i'll be checking out that lever tho
and adjusting accordingly. sweet...hopefully it saved me a service call to aamco.
