Side exhaust pipe angle

Ok, I think I'm going to run some temp. side exh. until I can afford the full exh. that I want (FPA headers and cutouts) and I need to just get a quick exh. hung so Tarafied can help me with the first start.
I've got it hung but it's a little far back, want to make sure I've got it snug before I start cutting inches off to get the pipe 1/2 way between the wheel well and rear of front door, at this far rear position I'd be worried about melting tires idleing too long?

Here's where I'm at and I'm debating:
1. Straight out like this
2. Cut the pipe exit at a 45* similar to the turndown on the ground
3. Mount the turndown pointed out so it points a little less straight back like the straight pipe does.
4. do one of the above 3 but oval the pipe as it exits?

Pros/cons, ideas?

Jon,

I haven't had any problems with the heat on the tires. I cut mine to follow the body of the car.

Thanks Mark, that helps me picture how angle cutting the straight pipe would look. Yours is a litte farther forward which is where I'm trying to end up so it isn't pointed at the tires as it is now.

OK, second attempt, took a few inches off to move it forward and in, I think I like the turnout a little better than the straight out for now, can always replace it with a straight pipe if not. I might pull it in towards the seam another inch?

I cannot believe you posted this with pics! I was just going to post and ask about about pics of side exhaust and how to run it! I'm ordering some stuff tonight to hook up the mid-length ceramic coated hedders :thu

How much straight pipe did you have to get for the project? It comes in 4' pieces from Summit Racing. Thanks, Gary

Been away on work, I'll have to measure what I ended up with this weekend. I just picked up straight pipe at the local O'reillys and cut it until it was the right distance, you could do the same with the summit pipes, I know my straights didn't start out any longer than 4'.

Thanks for the complement Lethal!
