Since the snow is flying...here are some driving tips

One of the local auto cross and open track guys wrote up this nice primer for driving in snow/ice. Good stuff to pass on to young drivers and anyone that's terrified to drive in snow.

Me, I like taking the F250 out in 2wd and play in the circular driveway. I can be out there for hours just trying to see if I can keep the tail out while going round the circle. It's my own little cheap skid pad amusement ride........except for burning up a tank of diesel :pep :pbj

Ahhh, driving in the snow. So much fun. First snow hits and the first thing I do is jump in the car. Typical 15 minute commute now involves countless trips to empty parking lots and using all 4 lanes when possible.

or do like the idiot did to me this morning and turn onto a 90kph road from a side road with about 50 feet to spare. The roads were icy this morning.

I can't believe the idiots out on the roads anymore. Passing on curves. Passing on double solids. Tail gating. Turning onto a busy road with not enough clearance.

One thing I've noticed out here, the sheeple may drive slower when the flakes start to fly, but they at least do keep their distance (for the most part).

People around here tend to just park on the side of the roads in various ways. We have this one particular road a couple miles from the house that we always visit during a good snow. It has a nice steep hill and a couple good banked turns. We don't visit it to play. We visit it to count the number of Mexicans that have slid off the road. No joke. It looks like a Wal Mart parking lot on Christmas Eve.

I love the primers.....They tell you loads of good info, but there is one real rule for driving in the snow.

SLOW DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY!

I like to get out in our subdivision and put the 350 in 2wd and play with the gas pedal! It is fun!

Good article Mark.

Agree, Fraser drives that 92 green (I think) LX at Heartland Park, he really is a great driver!
