What flavor linux is that? I used to have an Ubuntu box set up and it worked great. But since I only use my desktop for gaming, and most of them didn't really have the linux support, I gave up on it.

Verry nice! How much? /borat :shrug :peter

Is that KDE I spy? What distro? Looks nice. I've used 'nix off and on for a few years but I keep going back to Windoze since I can't do without a few programs. :roul I've got my TV running Mythbuntu but that's another story...

It's linux Mint 11

Been running it on my file server/storage turd since version 9.

It's pretty stable. I'd test out 10 first if you want to try it out. You can run quite a bit of windows stuff on it using wine if need be.

I've been converting to open source for a few years and most of the stuff I use is already made for linux. Firefox, Chrome, Thunderbird, Open office, etc.

I just need to install photoshop under wine and upgrade it. I have version 5.0 with 5.5, 7.0 and CS2 upgrades. I just don't feel like installing all that quite yet.

I'm trying to make myself use Gimp, which I think is probably quite capable but alot like holding a fork in the other hand.

I turned my wife loose on it tonight and she seemed pretty comfy with it. She even had her new phone hooked up downloading pics. Having to unmount the drive was kinda weird to her though.
When you start turning on some of the extras it takes on a Mac feel., not surprisingly.

Gnome

It's free as is open office, thunderbird, firefox,etc............

Ran Unbuntu desktop on the file server until the latest version, which is too bloated for my old 384k memory PIII server. Now run KDE on top of Ubuntu server. Love it. Still tied to windows for compatibility with the work programs, though.
