Son hurt in motorcycle accident - I need to vent

Sunday 1:30 am, my son was on his way home from a long day at work. He is a production guy and had been running a sound gig all day Saturday. He was driving his motorcycle on the highway when someone cam up to him in a car and literally push him off the highway at 70 mph. He tried to save it on the shoulder but the bike flipped. Steven sailed about 75 feet in the air. He said that he did a tuck and roll when he hit. Lucky he was hearing his body armor but his right should to the brunt of the hit.

He has a broken shoulder blade, a cracked upper arm bone, dislocated arm plus some road rash. He is already home recovering.

Now that he is home, I am just ticked off and want to go kick someones butt. The driver of the car did not stop :rant so the change of finding them is slim.

We are thankful that he was not more seriously hurt, the cops said he was lucky, he barley missed the guard rail and a concrete barrier.

Thanks for letting me vent. :censored

So sorry this happened and very grateful he was not hurt more seriously. Hopefully someone witnessed it and the driver will end up being caught. Sounds a lot like they were completely oblivious to him even being there. They may not even know they caused an accident.

Glad that your son is ok. that's the exact reason why I stop riding motorcycles. Heading to work one morning, and a pickup and boat switched lanes and took me out. They kept going, while I was rolling down the road at about 60. I figured I walked away, I might not be as lucky next time.

John,
Very sorry to hear of this, yet I'm happy that your son survived. It could have been worse I guess. For the motorist that hit him, may you rot in hell for not stopping to help.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. It brings back bad memories of my youngest cousin. He was being chased by an unknown party in a car and when he tried to get off the freeway he lost control and hit a guardrail. He died instantly.

Sorry to read this John. I sure hope he has a quick and painless recovery. Karma will get the a-hole that did this, I really believe that.

I really don't like bikes myself. I knew a young man who was killed recently on one.

The typical story I hear from most people I know is they stopped riding bikes after the first bad accident. My Aikido teacher used to ride until someone cut him off and he told me flat out the martial arts training in forward / backwards rolling and the fact he hit the grass median instead of the pavement are the two things that saved his life.

Glad your son is ok!

My hunch is that it wasn't malicious...the other driver probably never had any clue your son was there.

Glad to hear your son is recovering okay! Riding again after an accident is certainly a personal choice (getting back on the horse type thing). Unfortunately there are only two types of motorcycle riders, those who've been in an accident and those who haven't been in one yet! I can claim to be one of the "lucky" survivors of one, having totaled an HD Road King. I was fortunate enough to walk away with a slight strain to my upper left shoulder and a bruised tail bone (after having flown over an embankment and landing after about a 10ft drop!). The bike wasn't so lucky. I didn't have a whole lot of choice (a little, but not total) in getting back on, it was my police motor. :roll Even riding that thing I can't tell you how many times people almost hit me! SWMBO was never too thrilled with me being on it, and the accident didn't help things any. I can't recommend strongly enough a rider training program. No matter how long someone has been riding, it's a worthwhile investment. Most insurance companies give policy discounts too for participating. Had I not been through all of my training to even get on the bike, there's no doubt in my mind I would have been seriously injured..or worse!

All my best to your son for a speedy recovery! :thu
