...this here is the type of crab found on Nikumaroro (formerly Gardner) Island, where we believe Amelia Earhart went down. This is an example of a coconut crab, Birgus latro.

Ain't it cute? It is also very good eating, from what I hear...

Randy those things were all over the place when I lived in the Marianas (Guam specifically). I had one for dinner while on Tinian. I can confirm, they ARE good eating!! They're boiled like an ocean crab, but in coconut milk instead of water. Mmmmmmmm! :thu
