Speaking of gratuitous puppy pics...

Rescued a new pup today. Golden Retriever / Border Collie mix. They had 8 pups, some short hair, some longer. Most were black & white, but a few had tan. We ended up with one of the females...

Our Golden is almost 12 now, so, we're hoping he helps show the youngster "the ropes". Their meet & greet went well...

What a cutie!

Good rescue Bob.

We had a play day with a couple of KSDS pups in training and Carver is already in deep REM sleep!

After 6 days, it's going well... She's only had 1 "accident" (knock on wood), knows her name is "Molly", and is working on "sit". :thu She has slept thru the night every night (crated), with NO issues - even with me getting up at 4:30 to go to work, she stays asleep in the crate until Ronda gets up...

You can really see the herding instinct of the Border Collie - she has 13 toys, all gathered together in one spot. :shrug

New pic... They both like nap-time.

Pretty dog, almost looks like a shepard might have snuck in there somewhere, I am jealous if she housebreaks that easily, every boxer puppy I have ever house trained was a p.i.a..

:stu

That looks so much like shepherd colors to me. Wish I knew what is was like to have a puppy in the house. :roul Not for the reason that you think. The SWMBO is into dog sport and her GSD always have a lot of drive. So they want to go go go. Vari Kennel is the best invention yet, that is where our dogs sleep at night.

Cute, and yeah looks like there is a Shepherd, Rottie, Dobie or something is there to get that black and tan coloring. [nb]It is possible mama dog mated with multiple dogs. [/nb]

Bring Molly to CG and her and Carver could run till they drop!

Of course, anything's possible... We did see pictures of the (Golden Retriever) mother, and were told the neighbor's Black/white Border Collie did the deed :shee . Most of the pups looked like the dad would have - only a few had the extra tan coloring.

She DOES like a lot like a shepherd, which isn't a bad thing, IMO. :shrug

Yes, Mark, we'll have to try and get them together. Trying to socialize her as much as possible...

PM me your address. I have somerhing for your family member.
Craig - THANK YOU!!!!
A box of goodies arrived today (That was FAST!!!), and both "kids" are enjoying them...

Molly (the pup) seems to like the white lamb the best - easy to make it squeak!. :shee
The old guy (Bendi) likes the green one - maybe the texture? :thu

Finally, in the last picture, you can really see Molly's herding instinct at work... (or hoarding!)

Our human kids were always scared of Santa (and mascots, and clowns...)...

that pic of molly "herding" is kinda like something lucy does. if i'm on the computer not paying any attention to her, she brings all of her toys over & lines them up beside the chair. if that doesn't work, she grabs my sleeve & starts pulling until i get in the floor & play.

The baby graduated puppy school tonight. SMART pup - she learns very well!

Congrats Bob!!

Will she continue on with basic obedience? The socialization is invaluable.

The puppy class we did is the exact same class as their Basic, so the next step will be Intermediate, then Advanced. She IS going to do those, but we plan to wait 4-6 weeks before we start the next one. She's teething right now, so has the attention span of a .... (Oh, look at the birdie) .... Wait, what was I saying? :roll

For the "final", she did a sit & greet, a 30 second "stay", and then had to do a "trick" (shake or rollover). The little overachiever did both, followed by a "high five"! :yah

We've been getting to class 20-30 minutes early every week, just to walk around and meet other people and dogs, plus a few minutes of "play" with the other pups.

Very eager to learn, and walks well on a short leash. A little too much energy at times (hey she IS a 16-18 week-old) , so she is fascinated with chasing the rabbits in the backyard, and digging where they dig... But we're working on that.

You want me to send you a care package of tennis balls? They're great for burning off excess energy!

My brother has a tennis club and they replace all the balls every few months. I have a never ending supply.

We actually have about 10 of them already. The Golden can't even pee without a tennis ball in his mouth. Molly does ball pretty well for about 4-5 throws, then moves on to other "interests".

If your supply is never-ending, we can always use more next time we meet up... They have a life span of about 3 months before he pops them, then peels the fuzzies... :wtf
