So son goes off for the week into the Sierras boarding with friends, takes the '04 Suburban. Get a call last night...Dad.....I had an accident.
Good news..no one was hurt. No other cars involved. Hit some black ice on a curve went into a spin and smacked a snow bank with the front and then the rear. Front end wiped out. Bumper good but radiators hit. Trans cooler broke so no transmission. Back Qtr and rear door damaged. Could have been worse.
Problem was it was 165 miles away. Drove there this morning. Dealt with Insurance on phone...wouldn't cover tow that far. AAA coverage only 50 miles. Tow bill to home body shop I use would be $1,495. Local body shop (where the Burb was taken to up there) suggested I up my AAA to premium and get the free 200 mile tow. Hey it worked. Cost $45 to upgrade and ordered up the same towing company. Flat bed 165 mile to shop here in town. Got back home and went to the Sharks game..they were shut out. :bomb :roul
It just wasn't my day. :skul

Dudette,
You should have called me. I would have accompanied you but then again you probably weren't in the best of moods to hang with for an entire day. Thank goodness it was just one of your daily cars and most importantly the son nor anone else was hurt.

My 2 sons smoked 4 cars in their formative driving years. 2 each. Insurance was a killer for a few years.

They finally learned how to drive.

I am glad everyone was safe.

Glad nobody was hurt, Mike. I've gotten into a scary situation like that on the road up to the mountains as well but fortunately we didn't have the same results.

Wow..... I am glad all is well....Except for the burb....

Um, gotta love AAA.

And is the area where the Sharks play still all torn up? When I was there last with the Utah State Hockey team it was a nightmare with the bus.

Once again, I am so glad everyone is OK. the burb can be replaced with a Ford. I mean fixed!

Well I drove a 2 seater up there to pick Sean up (and his gear), so taking a passenger wasn't a option.
All back home now.

Here's a few pics....with more here:

There ain't no damage there......half the truck around here look worse and are still on the road.

Agrees, it doesn't look that bad.

Sad truth is the repair bill will likely be north of $5k for it.

Just hope they total it.................... than you can replace it with a Flex-Fuel version. and whats more your
son will be seen in new wheels

Glad that everyone is OK Mikey. But we really do need to stop posting about our children being in auto accidents. :hide My daughter just started driving on her own, and that is something that I do not even want to think about. So are you telling me that once our children leave the nest they still continue to cost us. :nut

Glad everyone was okay Mike.

Gotta love AAA. My premium membership has paid for itself for like three years two years ago. LoL.

Tim, Cheyanne is on her fourth car. I can't leave her without one since she is in Grand Forks North Dakota. Laurice did more damage than that to my Durango when she first learned to drive taking out a pole at the drive up at the bank. She also ran over one of the speaker poles at the drive in. Erin hit a car parking and I didn't find out until the insurance company called me 2 months later asking me if I wanted to claim the $400 or pay it?

So to answer your question, Tim, they keep costing for a very long time past the time the fly the coop!

I am getting even later this month and Laurice and Jacob are going to come up and take care of me and Amber when I get my surgery!

Mikey, That $hit will buff out!
