Start of a rat rod

I was at the farm last weekend and remember an old trailer by one of the barns. After looking at it, I think I will pull it into the barn and disassemble it for storage. I may do a rat rod project with one of my sons down the line. What y'all think?

You don't see to many "rat rodded" trailers.....

Looks like about the only thing for a rat rod would be the axle, wheels, and fenders.

It looks like a front axle. Did you look to see how it was locked into the straight position? I have seen some that were really damaged with a welder to secure them from turning.

No, It started pouring while I was taking the pictures and I was afraid I was going to melt so I headed back to the house.

Pete's right - I see a steering arm as well.

And they look like Ford wire wheels(?) - but appears to be a Chevy axle - hence the parallel, spring mounting pads.
