the new bldg has been up for 14 months now (time flies) & just this week i finally got around to redoing the 36" coke button sign that was on the front of the garage. when i did it the first time, it had been brush painted over & stencilled "open 24 hrs" so i simply stripped, repainted red & had a coke script made in vinyl & applied. the fire bubbled the paint & melted/discolored the decal, so decided to go a little fancier this time & paint the letering on. i also added the "drink" & "in bottles" to match a 24" version i have. i made stencils of the script before removing the decal & made patterns of the other lettering off the smaller sign, scanned & enlarged to fit the larger sign. then made stencils from those. painted everything this week & hung it on the bldg today. this was "hanging" weekend, hung a new front door on the house yesterday...

now i need to do something with the old vendo 83 coke machine that sits under it. it looks like crap under the "new" sign!!

Glad to see you get settled back in. Great work on the sign. :thu

Looks good and you are really moving forward.

Anytime you "refresh" one thing....the next one looks bad and the next...and the next.....just like restoring a car.

Looks really good, nice job on it. If you ever have anymore signs like that laying around let me know. :)

Great work. :thu :thu

It all looks great but I'm sure you would have rather not gone through the experience.

whatcha looking for? i've got a 16" & 24" buttons finished hanging in the house & a 24" porcelain button to restore. also have some really cool old coke signs that were made from the ends of the 30's westinghouse boxes when the new electric coolers were distributed. trying to decide when i repaint those if i should leave the bullet holes in the one...

still have alot of work ahead as far as my decorating plans. i have a 14' long sinclair sign to restore & hang on the bldg & a 48" sinclair round HC sign to restore & hang on the pole beside the shop. add in painting the coke box & the two gas pumps i have picked out of my stash to restore & mount on an island out front & theres plenty to do. at least i have everything here except for a fluted "revere" pole for the island light. still need to track down one of those...

Would like to see pictures of the 24" one, what's the difference between the one you have in the house and the porcelain one. Thanks.

only real difference is i need to patch a couple holes in the porcelain button. they were all pretty much the same, i think it all depended on the manufacturer as to whether they were painted or porcelain. i missed out on a pretty rare all white button with the coke bottle on it (no coke script, just the bottle) a while back.

Looks awesome!!!

Well not that you don't have enough to do but if you want to take on another pair of California Black plates let me know.

No rush Steve, Hope all went well with the Mrs. Hope you feeling better soon, the lights look good.

thanks! i got a little fancy this time when making the brackets for the lights. had to come up with a way to fasten them from the outside & center them over a rib in the metal, so split a piece of pipe & welded a piece of plate on each side for the flange, then bent the tubing & welded it in.

went with the green lights this time that i had stored away. figured they will tie in with this sign going on the front over the window ( after it gets redone..):
