Disaster strucks at my hometowns popfestival !!!!!

Thunderstorms and hurricane winds struck Europe's best pop , rock festival.

See youtube under " pukkelpop storm 2011 "

Remember , this hapened at 18.00 , normaly it is full daylight and the sun shines , but within 15 min , everything changed in dark clouds.

At some moment , it was dark !!!

60.000 people atended the opening of a 3 day event

So far : 5 people passed away , 3 people severely injured and 65 people have minor injuiries.

3 party tents collaps under the heavy wind.

All this happened about 1mile from my home.

I had 3 inches of dirthy water in my basement. I was lucky.

Bruno,
I read on the news earlier about your storm but didn't realize it was so close to you. Sorry to hear of this.

Sorry to hear the bad news.

My sister in law was at the concert in Indianapolis the other night when that storm blew through. Luckily, she was stage left and was not hurt.

Yeh , I saw this on the news a few days ago. There was no escape on the right side of the stage.
Any idea of windspeed on that particular moment ??

They were saying 60-70mph burst.

Your news sounded eerily similar to what happened in Indy. Some friends and people I work with are pretty shook up because they were there the day tragedy struck.

I bet for several minutes the wind exceeded windspeed of more then 100 mls.
Never saw this in my entire life.
Some sort of hurricane , I think , but I am not familiar with hurricanes or twister or what they are called.
For several miles there is a pad off trees that are down
On this festival there was one main stage and 6 big tent , 3 tents are down .
Across the festival terrain , there was a camping where 3 people passed away injuried by falling tree and a light pole.
To say at least , I am a bit in shock of what has happen in our neighboarhood.
People from all over Europe attended this pop/rock festival.
Last year they celebrated their 25 annual festival.
