:wtf (read who) would wire for a trailer like this from the factory? I had only the ds trailer light working, hooked to a 2003 Trailblazer. Check ps trailer light and no juice. Check wiring to light, no juice. Go to the connector (7 to 4), no juice. Go to harness going into connector, no juice. Trace harness (thinking it would plug into tail lights like aftermarket).....nope. Lose harness in frame. WTH?!?!? Get on internet to see if factory harness goes under hood, can't find BUT......turns out it's a fuse. A fuse? For the trailer? One side? Yep. Upon further investigation of the fuse box there are 4, count em four, separate fuses for trailer lights on this thing. One for running lights, one for left turn/stop, one for right turn/stop, and one for backup. Replaced fuse and now have both sides blinking BUT, no running lights on the trailer. I guess it's another fuse. How stupid.

Fords have the same...the fuse and separate wiring is because so many stupid people short out the trailer lights and also kill the truck lights. There may be relays included also. My '93 Bronco has 4 relays for towing plus a harness and fuses.

I get that but why not one fuse for the trailer? It's the world these days. When trying to accomodate for stupidity, the not-so-stupid end up stupid. See, when you try and "fix" stupidity you only make more people stupid.

It's a Obamanation from Guberment Motors. Good luck with it.

Dude.....its from 2003.....its just plain General Motors crap.
On the other hand.....at least it would take a HUGE MASSIVE ELECTRICAL event to make it so that the trailer would have no lights all.

Three separate light systems are in/on the trailer....tail, brake/turn, & backup, and sometimes utility lights. Each system should be fused individually for safety plus ease of locating a problem.

Cars normally have individual fuses for each circuit.

It's a conspiracy promoted by the fuse manufacturers.

But it's so much simpler to splice a wire.

Yep.....done that many times and numerous pre-made towing harnesses do just that, plug into the existing harness with no fuses except for what the vehicle normally has.

You can still do the old cut and splice and make it work the old school way....

Duh guess I missed that when I was half asleep this morning. Nothing to see here move along now.

Well, running light fuse for trailer under hood good, still no power at the plug. There is a SECOND fuse box under the rear seat that contains what? MORE fuses for the trailer. So I've got 4 fuses for trailer lights under the hood but the specifics for one of the "general" fuses is under the rear seat? WTF?
