Stupid neighbors!

guruatbol

Always on vacation!
Today I decided to get up at noon and do some work outside. Not a hot day but humid. I started the weedeater and got to it. 2 hours later started mowing. Had to mow the back yard twice....

I decided to let the dogs out with me. Toby the 18 month old Chocolate lab is out of town with my daughter (his mommy) so there was just Murphy my Chocolate Lab and Maxi our 14 year old Sheppard-Corky mix left. I put Murphy's beep/shock collar on him which made him very excited. Max doesn't normally leave the yard and I don't have a collar for her. Besides in 14 years she has never had one, I think it would just scare her.

Maxi wandered out of my sight for 30 minutes. At about 4:30 pm when I went in with the dogs I noticed that Maxi was bleeding. I looked closer and it looked like she had been shot. We took her to the vet and got Xrays and yep she was shot. Three times with a pellet gun!

When I got home I called the Sheriff and a deputy came out to the house. I told him what happened and that I though the crazy guy just down the street had a pellet gun that he told me he got to shoot dogs and gopher with. I remember telling him if any of my dogs get into his chicken pens to just get me and I will get them or if he would like he can approach them and grab them. they are trained not to hurt people.

After the deputy got his side of the story, this 14 year old nearly deaf, partially blind and physically unable to chase anything due to injuries to both rear legs was apparently chasing his chickens in and out of the pen. He had no choice but to shoot the dog.

This is the same guy who has posted no trespassing signs in the creak bed which is not his property and threatened to become confrontational if people don't stop riding in his (public) creak or slow down below the speed limit in front of his house causing dust.

The thing is that he bought a house in the dustiest lot in the entire subdivision.

Amber has now gone entirely off the deep end! She is pissed. I have never seen her like this. All because she is tired of crazy people always winning. This guy has now intimidated her to the point where she doesn't want to live in her dream home....

This is so frustrating. If our dog caused any damage we are glad to pay for it, but shooting a dog is just wrong!

Thanks for letting me vent!

I agree that shooting a dog for no reason is wrong. This neighbor also sounds like a nut case over anything.

Locally, the county requires dogs to be controlled. I have had issues with dogs wandering onto our place. Old, nice, gentle or mean and viscous, I am not going to wait to see their disposition. I have seen to many hurt by the sweet old dogs. I will help them decide to leave my property. Other issues like cleaning up after them is not what I need to do. If I know the dog, that can make a difference on how I deal with it also.

The thing I am saying is where did the issue start.....is it legal for your dog to roam the neighborhood un-controlled. What is legal for the nut case to do for protecting his chickens? As far as getting you if a dog is getting his chickens...how many more will the dog kill while chasing you down.

Also, good luck with the wife's feelings.....that can make for some rash decisions.

Sorry some idiot shoot your dog.

I would be more than pissed, If my dogs did something "worthy" of being shot, then kill them, not hurt them with a stupid pellet gun.

He is within his rights to protect his livestock. My dog should not have been roaming.

Now that being out there, this guy is a nut case and jumped out in front of people to slow them down and from bushes to stop them from riding quads on public land behind his house.

When dealing with loose dogs, it happens all the time out here in the country, first you should try scarring them off. Secondly this dog was shot three times with a single shot rifle. He had time to reload and pump it three times. This dog has no interest in chickens! He has fabricated a story and coached his kids!

My thought is I could load a bb into my pellet riffle and pump it no more than once or twice and that would be sufficient to get a good yelp out of a dog and scare them off without even penetrating their skin.

Sounds like your neighbor is a psycho jerk.

Next time he messes with someone on public land, someone needs to call the law. Pretty sure I'd buzz his place at a high rate of speed daily, Just saying...

That said, what goes around comes around...he'll "get his" eventually.

I assume you'd take the wife's mustang? Never seen a Trans Am that was capable of reaching a high rate of speed. :whis
