Subaru BRZ

My son just took delivery on one of these and man is it fun to drive. He has been lusting after something that can be a reliable and fairly fuel efficient daily driver that doesn't cause brain damage due to boredom. He has been following the development from concept car to production reality for some time now and placed his order 3 months ago on the first day that Subaru of America opened up the pre-order process. Very limited production with this local dealer being allocated 35 cars for the entire first year. First shipments are just now arriving and his is one of the first Nor Cal deliveries. Gotta polish his three pedal tango skills a bit.

For those in the area, the Internet Manager from Stevens Creek Subaru was a model of professionalism and courtesy and made the entire process as painless as it could be with no bullshit or other things that people usually loathe about car dealerships. :thu

Flat 4.

I taught him to drive stick 10 years ago but he's been out of the saddle since then. It's more about his confidence than his skills. He took the car to work yesterday and did fine. At this point, Lynn and the boys all drive stick shifts....I'm the one with the A/T !!!

Just saw a comparo on the Subaru BRZ v. 2012 Mustang 6cyl. Mustang won on speed and track time, but they said it was all over the place and even though faster than the BRZ, the BRZ won the funnest to drive!

Ride is firm but not objectionable. I suppose it depends on the condition of the roads in your area as to whether it works for you. Steering is communicative without being busy and the brakes are firm and easily modulated. Visibility is great and the seats are super comfy. Fit and finish are top rate. The fuel economy is averaging 32 mpg for his daily commute (90% freeway) so far. IMHO it is at the top of the "bang for the buck" class of 2013.
