Does anyone have any experience with them? Here's what's going on...
On the wife's (Moostang) coupe, a lifter started ticking right away after bringing it home. We pulled the valve cover to adjust them to find that they're none adjustable. I ran a straight edge over the top of the studs to find one was a little higher. I thought we'd found the problem. I had an extra set of 289 heads on the shelf that had been worked over with bigger valves, ported and polished, but more importantly screw in studs. We swapped out the heads, and got the valves adjusted. And the ticking is still there. I think that I've run the rack about 6-8 times, and can't get rid of the noise. So, I'm down to thinking it's a bad lifter. I was gonna start doing a cam swap with an extra cam that I had on the shelf, but when I grabbed it last night...there was a small bit of surface rust on a lobe. Now I've got a nice paper weight. I got looking at Summit, and the price of their cam kit, is not that much more than buying a new set of lifters. I'm not looking for anything radical, the car is a cruiser. Just something a bit more than stock, but with a little extra performance.
Any idea which manufacturer makes them? I know that they do use some major manufacturers for their stuff. The rear brake kit that I bought from them is made by Stainless Steel.
Thanks
