Sun is out and time to work

guruatbol

Always on vacation!
Well the sun came out a bit yesterday, so I went to Home Depot and picked up the material to build some more shelves in the garage. I was pretty sure it would be sunny today and it is, so it is time to go out and clean up after SWMBO messed up my garage during the spring and summer tour season. She thinks it is a garden shed. I even have a wheel barrel full of dirt in there.

It is warming up now, but I will still have to use the heater. I will finally get to figure out what parts I have and know where the heck they are too.

I will post pis of before and after later.

Mel, do you want this moved to Gum Flappers? Unless you're going to start putting guns on those shelves, or All your "Obama 08, 12, 4Ever" posters on those shelves, this isn't the best place for it, but before I move it to Gum Flappers (Where the language rules are more strict) I wanted to make sure you weren't planning on this shelving thread becoming more "adult oriented"

I know whenever I try to build stuff like that the naughty language comes out pretty quick ;) Just let me know.

OOOps, I posted in the wrong place. If you want to move it go ahead! thanks. :lol

I visit a few places here and sometimes forget where the heck I am!

When you're done can you come clean up my garage, LOL!!!!

I actually got rid of some stuff a few weeks back like an old tail light harness. I did cut all the various connectors off of it prior to junking it though...

I have my old / original rocker panel moldings that I've been debating keeping or junking. Those are taking up room on my work bench so I need to decide what I am going to do with them...I've even kicked around listing them on ebay to see if there was any interest, I can't imagine there would be but you never know.

I was getting ready to rip you a new one for taking up space in our precious board with this crap. Glad you realized the error of your ways.

OK, stopped for lunch. Whew. I counted my 2x4s and somehow I between HD and Wall-Mart and home I got ripped for 4 of em. I think I can still do it though.

Here are some links to the pics before and just as I stopped for lunch.

PS. Oh, and I am so sorry for forgetting where I was! I thought we were just a bit better than....well you know.... :lol MH

Mel, stop apologizing, mkay!

Gay rage is looking way mo better.

Rusty, the lift was $2500 delivered. I bought it when we built the house 3.5 years ago.

It is sure handy! I need to get some decent jack stands and another jack stand platform. I am going to put plastic over the car and tape it to the ground to make a tent that I can pressure wash the under side of the car and then put a plastic roof on it to make a paint booth.

It is a bit low and I have a couple scars on the mead to prove it. So when I started this project I took the car out and lowered the lift.

I don't know what I ever did without 12' ceilings and a lift. I do wish I had 16' ceilings and another 2 post lift as well.

Here before too long I am going to be "finished" with the coupe and have debated finding another project.

Not that you are ever really "finished" with one of these cars but all the major items will be done if I get mine painted and convert the front brakes here pretty soon. I have some other more minor things I plan to do like sub-frames and replacing the springs but I am getting there. Engine is already rebuilt, new floors are in, carpet is only a year old, head liner looked great when I bought it, entire car has been rewired, etc, etc...well once I put my under dash harness in the wiring will be completed anyway, so most of the major projects are done, LOL!

One of the major road blocks I have at the moment to eventually finding a new project (other than the wife) is where to store the coupe. I already have 3 cars and a two car garage.

I don't think my ceilings in my garage would be high enough however for a lift to be an option. I might be able to find a local storage facility but I think they are kind of pricey.

Dang - at my house a 3 car garage only holds one car. I need Mel to drop by - he cleaned that place out fast.

Hey mel, since nobody else once to mention it, whats the deal with the black elephant on the wall.

Update -

Those of you who remember when I was working on Captain America, all know that when I get a project going, I get "While I'm at it" Desease.

So, I got the shelves done and while I was at it, I moved the freezers, tool box cleaned off the work bench and well, I have one more day of cleaning and building more shelves since I have material left. It is too much trouble to take it back, so I will just use it.

Now to answer the question about the Grey Elephant.

Some of you know I am retired from the California Department of Corrections at the rank of a Lieutenant. Well, when I was an Officer we had a contest to see which housing unit was the cleanest. The Warden at the time like Big O inherited a mess. He, unlike Big O, took ownership and told all of us, our problem was like eating an elephant. You can only do it one bite at a time. So the Sergeant asked me if I had any ideas of a trophy that could move from building to building. I had one of my convicts make the elephant and paint it. It traveled from unit to unit spending most of it's time at my unit as it was spotless most of the time. This went on for about 5 years. Then the elephant disappeared. ;( When I was Acting Captain several years later I found it durin an audit in a stairwell. Well, I took it to my office and hung it on the wall. When I got sick I had to move all my stuff from the office for the new guy to take over and it came home.

I know it is long but it is a good story. So now the autographed by the maker elephant resides in my garage in Utah. Oh and I moved it to a new spot today.

Tomorrow I should have some new pics of the finally finished while I was at it garage.

Well, I replaced the ground fault outlet that kept tripping every time I plugged in my truck while I was at it. I thought I would be smart and careful and just swap it out. No need to find the darn circuit breaker. So I was not as careful as I thought and got shocked. No big deal, just have to be more careful. I got 2 wires loose and in the process of getting the other two I got bit again. OK, I'll go inside and turn the breaker off. I return to the last two wires and got a jolt that made me tingle and take a deep breath. I went back inside and turned on all the garage breakers and read the list again. Found the one I missed and switched it off. This time I got my current tester and it was dead. Wow, what a shocking experiece.

Well as of today, I amd pretty close to done. I can't finish until I rent a pallet Jack to move the gun safe. I just have the work area to finish. I'll post pics for you all tomorrow. Many new wall hangings. I found my foot gas pedal, all my Knott's stuff and moved the elephant. I also hung my old gauges from the 65 and the pony grille insert.

I discovered that I have a mini auto parts store in my garage. I guess I have to find a swap meet and get rid of it all! Maybe I can make enough to buy some Procar seats for my 65?
