Ok this was a nice surprise to have show up at my door just now...

<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/3/129_11_11_09_12_56_51.jpg" />

I ordered it Monday and they said 3 to 4 business days shipping.

Not sure about the cardboard looking gasket they include though?

Now what I need to do is figure out how to determine if my C4 is actually a 60's era one or if someone swapped it out along the line with one from the 70's, etc. so that when I get the money I can order the correct valve body.

Hey....now THAT"S a nice pan. Don't you have either a dog tag or stamping numbers on the tranny?

I've never looked to tell you the truth. At least now the pan coming in gives me a good excuse to put her up on stands and while I am under there I'll look. Maybe on the side of the tranny?

BTW, did you use the gasket they sent with the pan...it looks a little "lacking" to me, LOL!

I used the black rubber one. DO NOT over tighten though.
If you are going to change the pan change the filter. I've had good luck with the black rubber ones that come with the filter from advanced auto.

I am going to call O'Reilly this morning and get them to send the gasket to the store. If I call them first thing they'll have it there later today.

Waiting to do the pan for a few days anyway and I have to go to O'Reilly to pick up a few quarts of Type F.

I am waiting because I ordered a new dip stick tube for the transmission and it hasn't come in just yet. I was thinking it might be cleaner / easier to change out the dip stick while the pan is empty.

I am assuming you didn't use any sort of gasket sealer since it is a rubber gasket...

I picked up the gasket and filter kit today at O'Reilly along with 4qtrs of type F.

Then I thought about the fact this pan holds an extra quart. The manual says put in three then start checking fluid but I was thinking if the pan holds an extra quart I better put four in then start checking. Guess I'll be back at the store tomorrow picking up another couple of quarters..not a big deal it's close.

I called VCM because they never sent me a tracking number but the dipstick and tube will be here tomorrow. It said it comes with the O ring.

Got my Friday night project for tomorrow, LOL!

By the way, as I understand it the dip stick tube is basically jammed in there with an O ring so I should pull the old one out but is there any trick to installing the new one in a leak free manner?

Just lube up the o-ring and push it in. If its to hard to push in, tap the top with a rubber mallet.

While you have the pan off you can tap the tube from underneath the trans. The bends in the tube may make it awkward to pull up on.
