Suspension Limiter

Triton

Member
I rebuilt my suspension (diy strut rods, perch rollers, screw in ball joints, arnim drop) and have 600 lb front springs. I can get the springs in just barely without a compressor, I had to jack the suspension up to fit the KYB shocks in the top mount. When I lowered the suspension to full droop the shock keeps the suspension from going any lower. Is this a problem? I'm not going to be off roading or jumping the car so will this do any harm or do I need to limit the suspension travel with a cable? I have seen other cars with a cable from the shock tower cover to the upper a arm, now I know why!

The shocks are made to hold the suspension in droop. I don't think you need a limit cable unless your spring will fall loose when the car is jacked up.

My 66 coup is very low with short stiff springs. I have a limit cable on that car so I don't have to align the springs every time I jack the car up.
