Suspension question for 70 coupe

I completly replaced all components on my 70 coupe. I just realized it is setting much heigher than I think it should. Compaired to my 69 it is about 1 1/2 inches taller in the front.

After measuring several areas, I see the springs are compressing about 1/2 inch per coil less than the 69. The distance from ground to upper control arm is anout 1 1/2 inches longer on the 70.

The car had been begun restoration prior to me getting the car, but the front suspension apeard original. I pulled eveything off and it was apart for about 2 months. IDEAS????

Loosen the lower control arm bolts and let the weight of the car load the bushings and find it's happy place. Tighten the control arm bolts.

I loosened both sides. Got on the frame and bounced the front end. Still higher. I measured the compressed springs on both cars. THe 69 is at 10 inches and the 70 is at 12 inches. THe 69 upper arm is paralell with the ground the 70 is pointing down about 15deg. As far as I know these are the original springs on both cars.

I also noticed the 70 is VERY hard to bounce. I weigh 200 and it was work to get it bouncing.

I realize this is tought to diagnose over the net. Thanks.

Does the 70 have an engine in it? If not, you'll be comparing apples to kiwi fruits.

Are these springs new? Most of the time the original springs will sag over the years, so if your 70 has new springs and the 69 is original it is expected that the 70 will sit higher. I've seen 1" 620lb lowering springs sit higher than cars with original factory height springs.

In reality I'm not overly concerned about the heights being a little different. But, the difference is how the suspension is setting. The upper arm on the 69 is paralell with the ground and the 70 is pointing downward 15+degrees. It is also VERY hard to bounce the front end of the 70. Even when I stand on the frame to bounce it. I've had trucks bounce easier.

Do you know what kind of springs are on the 70? Are the coil diameters larger than that of the 69? Sounds like someone installed the 620 lb springs to me. If you have a caliper or micrometer, measure the spring diameters of the two cars to compare.
