T5 question

How did those of you with T5s and Tremecs determine how much preload to put on the throw-out bearing.

Seems I might be running a bit loose.

I've got a cable clutch and basically adjusted it so that the cable just barely pre-loaded. Too loose and I fear the pedal end popping out of the B&M clutch quadrant.

Sluggo , whats your rear end ratio ?
I have a 3.00 behind the T5z and its too big IMO.
I guess a 3.55 would be ideal.With trac-lock if i can permit it.

I've got 3:73's behind the close ratio T5 in my Fox, I like it a lot :)

I'm running a 3:00 trac lok right now. Kinda like the combo.

Once I get it running again I'll know better how I like it.

A 3:50 would be about as low as I would want. I have a friend running a 3550 with a 3:70 out back and first gear is gone in an instant.

I just put a smidgeon of preload on it. I know, nice, scientific term. As long as it's not cranked down on, or loose as a goose, you should be good to go.

This is on the Tremek TKO 600 in my '69 ... 3:89's in back.

Excellent description and perfectly understood.

When my hydraulic TO bearing was too loose it made a slight squeaking sound. I adjusted the MC linkage until the squeak went away (just a few turns of the MC rod end did the trick).

My T5z trans has following gear ratio
1st 2.95
2nd 1.94
3rd 1.34
4th 1.00
5th 0.63
Reverse 2.76
and because of the tall first gear , you gonna have a rear end ratio around 3.55 to have the best performence.IMO

Do you know the ratio from your gear box or trans ?
see for more info : http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/349.shtml

I've always been told to stay within 11-12 final drive gearing for 1st gear, so with a 2.95 1st you'd use 3.73 for the 11 final and anything up to 4.11 (which is a tad higher than 12). All depends on your goals and preferences though.

There is no ID tag on the trans so I'm not 100% sure what I have.

According to the little research I have done, it's a world class t5 so it should have a 335 first gear.
