T5 shifter & handle mismatch

I'm gradually accumulating parts for my T5 swap. I bought a shifter a while ago (short throw sport shifter from American Muscle), and I just got the stock looking lever. The holes on the lever are further apart than the holes on the shifter.

Has anyone else run into this issue and what did you do about it? I assume the dogleg piece is to move the handle up and back a little bit, so I'll probably be using it. Can I get another dogleg piece with the holes the right distance apart on the upper part? Why don't they match in the first place?

If I were in your shoes, I'd just "slot" the shifter handle holes. Elongate them (or even just one would do it) so you can get the bolts through

Last time I saw that happen it was because the shifter was an off-brand piece of crap. To my knowledge, all of the Hurst, Pro 5.0, Steeda Tri-Ax, and factory shifters use the same bolt spacing on the shift lever.

$70 sounds pretty cheep...

I know for a fact that I love my Pro 5.0! :)

Didn't pay that much more. $100 IIRC... (used of course)

I bought a Tri-Ax from them for $125 (new) when they had them on sale a few months back. Keep an eye out for deals.
