Talked to a lady bus driver today---times definately have changed--not for the

better. She has driven a bus for many years at a school district north of me--I asked when she was retiring and she laughed and said maybe soon. She said a high school kid didn't like what she told him and he called her a stupid f--ing then the c word---she had him kicked off the bus and she told the superintendant that if he ever gets back on she was done--he told her he would not guarantee that he would be off her bus for good, she said I can--he comes back and I am gone. I would first off never have talked to a bus driver like that but if I did the recourse at home would have been a lot worse than the schools actions. I drove a school bus (subbed)1 day probably 12 years ago and went to the bus foreman and said it was not for me---those "little darlings" turn into animals.

My wife teaches high school punks. And I mean punks. The kids who can't cut it in regular classes and will probably serve jail time after "graduation".
She got flipped the bird and cursed at by some punk who was driving his car the wrong way through the one way teacher's parking lot. Happened more than once. She finally found out who the kid was and got his sorry ass suspended for a few days.
She finds it extremely enjoyable to dole out what some of those punks deserve.

I think that guy's Mom drove by me at 45 mph in a construction zone almost hitting me flipping me off and yelling at me.

As for driving a bus full of kids....I have had loads of great kids and loads of jerks. It seems to me that the 13-14 year old groups were the worst. I had to stop the bus once on the side of the road and have a heart to heart with the adults who were doing nothing. I told them I would be happy to stop at a well lit area with a phone and drop off all the offenders and one of the adults. (I can do that by law ya know) these little Darlings were causing safety issues a plenty.

I have had groups that were very respectful, kept the bus clean and just a lot of fun to be around too.

Alas, I don't do it any more....thank God for that! Now the only one who complains in my company vehicle is me!

Been under the radar lately... No money right now, not time either. Amber is getting ready to use all her time off for surgery, so we have been very careful with time and money.

No Mustang money right now, so I am hoping that soon we will have some Mustang money in time for MITM. Otherwise, Knott's next year for sure! It is my hope to have at least the interior in the 65 done by MITM, but?

We just have to wait and see, and in the mean time doing much regarding the Mustang even the show this weekend just 45 min south of me is just depressing!

Per David and Jen's request...MITM Sep 28-30 in Psimo

Works for me... With the new job it is pretty easy to get time off. I'm not controlled by tour season any more. I just have to make sure Amber can get time off.

Well after 10 months off to take care of my wife and my heart, I took a job managing a tire shop and found the GM to be a real tool! When things were right, I wasn't management material, but when they were bad, I was the manager and responsible for everything even if he made the decision! So after 6 months of 60 hour plus work weeks and watching my heart return to pre-surgery rhythm I decided to take a job locating under ground utilities. I drive around in a company truck all day working at my own pace and get paid to do it.

It is a cool way to make some extra money while being retired. Stress is very low and the people I work with are very supportive.

I have driven a couple times lately when the locating was slow, but am glad it is not a primary income. I love doing it, but I was getting tired of a payload that complained about everything you did and being tired all the time. Now I have weekends off and no commuting expenses.

I also do not have to sit in a cubicle or office somewhere, I get to look at the beautiful southern Utah landscape and some pretty cool homes.

PS. Sorry to hijack the thread!

There are def. "issues" with kids these days.

We have been figuring out how to deal with a recurring situation on the play ground at the boys' school. They have one "friend" that is kind of a fat nerd but lately he is dealing with anger issues or something.

Basically, he's been pushing down other kids and tried to "body slam" one boy after knocking him down. Body slam after you've knocked someone down really? The kid is a fat a** and could inflict quality of life altering injuries doing that like spine / neck injuries. He's also been picking on one of the boys other friends because he's smaller than some of the other guys...he's the youngest guy in the grade since he just now turned 10 this weekend.

What I want to tell my boys is that if he pushes you or one of your friends knock his f'ing teeth down his throat....I've taught my boys plenty about how to fight so they know a mix of several different fighting styles. The kid is also a Mommy's boy and would run crying after the first punch landed.

However, in today's hyper politically correct wussified world I am sure the boys would get in trouble if they put the dude in his place. There is also the issue with he never tries to push them, etc...I think he knows they can easily beat him down if it came to that. I know one day they were playing in the park with a bunch of friends on a Saturday and the kid tried some of that crap with Ben. Ben was in his face pretty much screaming at him and to be honest I was really surprised Ben didn't just cold cock him before I could get over there.

The boys have told this kid several times to stop the crap or he won't have any friends left.

What they decided to do this weekend is the next time he pulls his crap they are simply going to tell him they are no longer his friend and walk away to get a teacher. Of course I told them if he tried something stupid they are allowed to defend themselves but only use as much force as required to prevent themselves from being harmed. We also wrote the Principal and informed her about what is going on.

I sort of feel sorry for the kid, his mom had him young and didn't want him so his grandparents are raising him. However, my wife called the grandma this weekend and tried to address the issue...she just acted like "he doesn't know his own strength" and it's only been one or two incidents. But talking to my boys and one of their other friends that last three weeks or so it's getting to be a daily thing. Also, their other friend's mom said the trouble maker was sent to the Principal's office a week or two ago...apparently her son was trying to calm this boy down and a girl came over to try and help at which point he told her "get away from me or I'll kill you". I strongly suspect grandma knew about this...but I'm certain their "little angel" had some story....

So the boys basically said today at recess if he tries to push someone down or bullies the smaller kid they are going to walk straight up to him, tell him that is not cool and they don't want him hanging around any more then walk away to find a teacher.

Sad...the kid only had three or four friends to begin with and now he's pretty much losing those as well. My boys and their other friend we talked to yesterday to substantiate the boys' story are pretty much tired of dealing with the kid.

I have to say, they don't get any more respectful when they become "adults". I work for the fire department in a small city that houses Ohio University. Every year these kids have a bunch of "street fests" that are nothing more than drunken parties that usually end up spilling into the streets and closing streets down. This past saturday was Palmerfest, a yearly event. In the past few years it has escalated into violence, starting fires in the street, and throwing bottles and bricks at the police and firefighters.

This past saturday someone started a fire in the basement of a house in the middle of the block. (It was determined to be arson) I was on duty and arrived on the second truck in. The police had to use horses in a wedge pattern just to move the kids off the street enough to allow us to lay hose and get the truck in.

Finally the event was declared a riot area and extra LEO's were called in to clear the street. There are a bunch of videos on youtube about it. Here are a few. The first one was on the news, I'm the one coming out of the house starting at 1:19.

These are the people that will some day be running our country. God help us.
