Template for 65 GT fender emblems?

I need to drill holes in both fenders of a car we're building for the GT emblem and the MUSTANG letters. Can anyone give me some measurements as to where exactly these emblems go.

thanks,
Doug

There is also a Template kit for placement of the emblems and stripes for 65-66 GTs. NPD and other well stocked Mustang parts houses should carry it.

+1 It runs around $13 and is VERY complete. Not only does it have the holes for the letters and the badges, it also has them for the V8 emblem placement, and IIRC, the GT stripes.

The wife bought me a set a number of years ago along with a bunch of parts for my GT....great Christmas! Unfortunately it got lost before I ever got to use it. I think it got thrown out! :censored

I bought and used the emblem template from NPD. Very accurate.

BUT, if you are using repro letters, please note that the pins are not 100% accurate. Your letters may not mount perfectly straight. Be sure to test for straightness (is that a word?) prior to drilling. Also, use a hole punch to dimple the metal so the drill bit won't wander.

If I had to do it all over again, I would consider removing all the pins and using trim tape to attach to the fender.

I went off of the Mustang Monthly measurements. It took a while, but we got all of the holes drilled. I think making my own template once I knew the measurements was the best way. I don't trust different brands of the letters to have the pins in exactly the same place. Making my own template with the letters I have guaranteed they will be straight. It looks good, but damn that's a lot of holes.

can someone post the mustang monthly pics, the link does not work for me. Or if you have an original GT pics of the stripe layout with a measurements would be great. thanks
