gonna be a COPO clone. i'm removing the 427 emblems & fixing a couple small paint issues. sad that whoever built it decided that since it had a cowl hood that there wasn't any need to fix the dings in the cowl panel before painting it. also has a couple runs in the clear that need addressing.

sent the 40 back home today. ended up fixing a dent in the right front fender, taking the grille out/apart & repainting the side panels & chin that were previously chromed & colorsanding/buffing the whole car. that part about killed me. was a 20 yr old paint job & was hard as granite.

First Muscle car I ever rode in was a Camaro. Uncle bought one while he was in Nam. I love the COPO clones. The 40 is sharp also. I will have to say though that the first "impressionable" Muscle car was a 428 Mach One. I can still hear the wonderful sound those pipes made. Got tickled though when he came back he brought one of the locals with him. Absolutely beautiful girl with long black hair down to her butt. Stayed with him about two weeks and then vanished.

Uncle Ariel? Did he have a locked room in the house that no one was allowed in?

Too much? too soon? too disgusting? :sarc

No, it was base/clear but acted like imron. I usually run the buffer at around 1200 rpm with the white foam pad & compound. Had to run it up to about 2600-2800 to get it to cut. At those speeds, getting the swirl marks out is murder... Had almost 20 hrs sanding & buffing & didnt even do the roof

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. That makes me special!

That's on a need to know basis and you don't need to know. I probably can't remember anyway.

you guys might not hear much from me for a while... gonna be really busy with some looong hrs in the next few weeks. I've had this little chevy II here to replace the hood. I fixed a couple spots a few yrs back & covered them up with the super sport stripes to avoid trying to match this paint. the hood ended up having been dip stripped & wasn't neutralized properly, so is now rusting from the inside out. just cant get anywhere close to matching whatever this 3 stage paint is, so now plans have changed to painting the whole car from the beltline up black & splitting the colors with a silver stripe. bad part is, since this started out as a "hood only"job, I have a 55 merc sunliner that's supposed to arrive in the next week, so gotta get this one moving pretty quick. the merc is completely disassembled, on a rotisserie & gets EVERYTHING painted. inside outside & underneath...

If your back is holding out I'd say busy is good, right? I'm lucky to keep my DD's running, I'd never be able to keep up your pace. Holler if you need a 'care package' dropped off to you :thu

the back held up until Friday.... been a long week. disassembled the car Monday morning, gutted & pulled doors, fenders hood & trunklid.

spent most of the week sanding, masking & shuffling parts in & out of the booth.

Friday, I moved the body into the booth & shot it

sat, prepped & painted the underneath side of the trunklid, hung/aligned the doors & fenders, reinstalled the glass in the doors, colorsanded with 2000 grit & polished a crapload of stainless bolts & washers for the fenders/front end etc.

sunday will paint the outside of the hood & trunklid, start buffing & prepping for the pinstripe. moday will buff the hood/trunk, stripe it, clean it up & move it out. not bad for a week....

finished up the chevy II today.

finished a week late due to the passing of my dad, but finished just in time as this showed up this morning:
