testing oil pressure gauge.....same as a fuel gauge?

I'm wanting to test Shag's retired original oil pressure gauge, before we install it into KBMWRS's car. Can I assume testing to see if it lives would be the same procedure as testing a fuel gauge by grounding the sending unit wire to see if it pegs out to the right?

I like this article, I saved a while back. It is very helpful with old Ford gauges

Same issue...I just saved it to my computer and renamed it with a .pdf extension.

Next question.....is the guts of the oil pressure gauge the same as water temp? They seem to be identically built except for the bezel.

Uhhh..... and yes Craig that pdf file is major bathroom reading material.
