So I'm reading a book called The Audacity Of Hops, about the genesis, rise and flourishing of the craft beer movement. And I realized that there are many examples in American industry of "The Big Three". In brewing, it's Bud, Miller and Coors. In cars, it's Ford, GM and Chrysler. In broadcasting, it's ABC, CBS and NBC. In chocolate, it's Hershey, Nestle and Mars (although Nestle is actually an "import"). I'm also realizing that in nearly every industry, the history has been the same: Lots of players at first, followed by mass consolidation and now the emergence and popularity of craft, or artisan brands.
Any other "Big Threes" And why 3?
