The BIG weekend....

.... is finally over and life as I know it can resume. My wife has been planning our daughters quinceanera http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quincea%C3%B1era and sweating out every minor detail for the last 6 months. The event was held last Friday evening and went off without a hitch. Well, other than my wife losing another Sony Cyber Shot camera.... I've bought her enough of them that I believe she now thinks they are disposable cameras. Fortunately we had a photographer there to professionally capture the event and not rely on the wifes ability to not keep losing her camera.

Here are some photos of our daughter who up until this point has been spared from you morons. I'm really impressed with the photograher. I have a hard time spending money on "people who can take pictures". Heck, can't everyone work a camera? Sure, some people are just better at it is all....

I didn't even know you had a daughter but good thing for her that she looks like her Mom instead of you...

Congrats!

Uh oh.......

"The Quinceañera ritual has been traced to 500 B.C. from the Aztec culture where a girl at the age of fifteen was considered apt for motherhood."

if she's now 15 you have about a year to build her a Mustang ?

That's her timeframe, not mine. I am in no hurry to hand the keys of a classic car over to a first time driver. I'll likely build her a Coupe "when I get around to it", but it won't be before she has a couple years driving experience. Speaking of which, today was her first day of drivers ed. I hope she didn't kill anyone....

Felicidades, Dave.

My daughter is 13 and I'm not sure if we're gonna do the quince or not. I leave that one up to the wife. She of course had one, and it's very important to her culturally, BUT our daughter is pretty much 100% americanized, she unfortunately doesn't know much spanish, and she doesn't really connect to that culture, and we live in a very white-bred area, so she doesn't really have any friends who would understand a quince. Not that any of them would turn down a party.

Plus, when my wife did her's, she had to go get all this Catholic training, because apparently (at least for my M.I.L.) you don't get one without having all the religious stuff taken care of. Our daughter, aside from being baptized when she was a baby, before I even knew her, is about zero percent Catholic. She calls herself one, because that's the church she was baptized in, but she knows nothing about the church...that would have to change in short order. I don't see it changing. So it'd probably be a 100% seccular quince.

And finally, I've heard my daughter say she'd rather skip the Quinceañera and go for a sweet 16 party. I imagine that's probably what will end up happening.

Congratulations Dave. I remember Gabby explaing this to me at the MBB. Did you do the shoe changing part? Where's the pics of that. Isn't that the moment that the transformation takes place?

is this the ritual thing where the guest of honor "blows the shofar" or am I thinking something else??

Mark, dave is gonna reach through your monitor and ring your neck for a comment like that.

It was funny though. :rofl

No wonder why you didn't allow your daughter to come to MBB and participate in all the activities! You rat!

Yes, changing her shoes from flats to heels, presenting her to the attendess and then a waltz. It was a black tie affair, you know, like you guys have probably seen on TV while flipping the channels between ESPN and ESPN2.

There are pictures...... probably still with the photographer.

Here you go Ron....

Congrats, great photos and a beautiful dress. I guess this is the trial-run to planning for a wedding.
