The End Is Near....Finally!!

Ponyman66

Yak, yak, yak
After almost 5 months the training I have been attending for my new job is FINALLY coming to an end. A week from this Wed officially ends my months of torture. Last week went by at a blistering pace and I certainly hope the same for this one! While I have been able to drive home during weekends, it was too costly to do it as often as I would have liked. In addition, the longer I've been here the more and more difficult it became to drive back here each weekend that I did go home! I have gone home the past three weekends in a row, but my time was all spent on cutting the downed trees and cleaning up after the ice storm from last month!

To show my true masochistic tendencies (as if being here wasn't enough of an indicator..certainly at my age!), I also quit smoking. It's been a week and a half so far since I even touched anything. I figure by graduation day I'll be in the home stretch. New job, new habits (or lack of old ones). I gotta say it was rough yesterday at the final class party. I felt "out of balance" with a cold adult beverage in one hand and nothing else in the other! I succeeded though (and didn't fall over)!!

The wife said she'd put all the money in my bank account that would have been spent on cigarettes so I could apply it to my Mustangs! With that and the salary increase from my "new" job, I figure once the coupe is done (hopefully in the next several months), the fastback will have a nice little nest egg to finance it's resto! :yah

Congrats to the end being near, but mostly to quitting. It is as simple as making a choice that you do not want to anymore. I will not mention the human lungs that I saw today at the Bodies museum today. (My daughter needed to go for extra credit in one of her college classes.) Smokers lungs were nice and black. :barf

Same here man , congratz on both :thum :thum

quit smoking for 20 years now and now it makes me sick when smelling the smoke of a cigarette !!!! ( i did smoke for 17 years ) :rr

Thanks everyone. I've smoked for 35 years. I still like the smell, but noticed I can be upwind to smell it now! The one thing I DON'T want to become is (for lack of better delineation), an ex-smoker. I prefer to be a former smoker. The difference (by my definition)? The "former smoker" isn't one of those holier than thou people, "I quit, so should everyone else and you're a piece of crap if you don't". In my book, those are the "ex-smokers". My current supervisor is one..grrrrrr. He's finally lightened up on me because I've gotten a few weeks under my belt now (without smoking). Unless someone wants to quit, no amount of brow beating and insults are going to make it happen. Support and gentle persuasion are much more successful! The comments ya'll have posted fall under the supportive category, and I really appreciate them!

I've been fond of telling people "the worst non-smoker is an ex-smoker". My wife is actually a "former smoker". She's never busted my balls about it, instead she's dropped a few subtle comments here and there through the years. Those I could deal with. Sorry I've digressed! Thanks again!

P.S. FD, I used to have that as my avatar!! LOL

I'm going to do the same....save all the money I spend on drinking for my Mustang.

:whis :whis :whis

I sure hope that old '67 keeps running.

Yes I remember it that is why it was included in my post. My wife told me something last night that I do not remember, wish I knew how that works. :dun
