For centuries, Hindu women have worn a dot on their foreheads. Most of us have naively thought this was connected with tradition or religion, but the Indian embassy in Ottawa has recently revealed the true story.

When a Hindu woman gets married, she brings a dowry into the union. On her wedding night, the husband scratches off the dot to see whether he has won a convenience store, a gas station, a donut shop, a taxi cab, or a motel in the United States.

If nothing is there, he must remain in India to answer telephones and provide us with Verizon technical support.

If I were politically correct I would say that is racially offensive but I think most Indian people would even laugh at that one!
I can verify that. Sent it to an Indian friend at work and he laughed his butt off. Just like people of all races and creeds laugh at a good joke at their expense. It's called humor. We have let ourselves get WAY TOO uptight.

that's awesome. I have a Polish friend that tells some the most offensive Pollack (spelling?) jokes I have ever heard!

And the exact same joke does the rounds in OZ with the word Verizon replaced with Telstra.
And if the do gooders wanna get their knickers in a twist -

I saw this Indian woman on the bus and i wasn't sure if she was dead or sleeping.
Then i noticed the red dot on her forehead and realised she was on Standby.
