Think I'll Take A Break This Year

So after many days and weeks of deep thought, I've decided to pass on hosting an MBB this year. It seems as though while early on in the years the party was a rousing success, the last several years have seen a steady decline in participation. I know it can't be a big success every year, but it just feels like it's losing a little of it's draw. People may even be getting a little bored with the format. So, maybe taking a year or two off might be a good thing. It will give me a chance to re-think the event, and maybe come up with something different or more interesting. We'll see. But for now, we'll put MBB in the books and call it 7 good years!:D Thanks Havok1 for hatching this idea with me way back when, and thanks to everyone who went out of their way to make a special trip to Myrtle Beach from all over the country to share in this event. 70Stangman, thank you too for participating while not participating. Those banners are killer! Hell, maybe a couple of other fixers will hatch a plan to party somewhere else! Till then, my friends.

I know Ron......ever since I stopped going to MBB. It's all my fault :p Seriously, give it a year or two break and then see if people are ready to come back for some very serious pig.

Maybe next time in the parking lot of H00ters?

Thank you Ron and Brenda for being amazing hosts these last several years. I know I've really had a nice time and made some good friends. Hope to see everyone again soon, regardless of the venue.

Ron this is the most depressing thing I've read on here in a long long time. We greatly look forward to coming to the beach every Oct. With that said, you and Brenda have always been fantastic hosts. I understand the reasons and also that you have a lot on your plate. The event has seemed to ebb and flow as far as attendance but two things were always consistent, a good time and (IIRC), a new face each year. It certainly added to being able to put a face to a name and I very grateful for having gotten to meet so many great folks through the years. I will certainly hold a calendar date open for any future events. As always, if there's ever anything I can do to help don't hesitate to ask.

p.s. We still need to get together for a frosty adult beverage (or more), one of these nights when you're in town!

While I hate to hear this, I certainly understand. (I already have my room booked lol) I would like to do something spring/fall and incorporate a parkway drive but realize the participation would probably be very slim due to distance for people. Anyway, I'm gonna miss the hell out of it. No worries though, when I'm down that way we'll certainly get together. Ron and Brenda, ya'll have done a helluva job. Your hospitality is something rarely seen these days. Take a break, discuss it later. Hell, you may be getting burned out on it yourself and not realizing it. And for the record, there is nothing stopping a group from meeting up for the weekend down there with no "format". Let Ron and Brenda enjoy it too. Thanks again guys, it has been very much appreciated.

Shucks, I was planning on attending (every other year), but I completely understand. It's a whole lotta work for you and Brenda, and you should take the time out to enjoy life as it is without us descending upon you. Keep your chin up, and don't drink all my YJ, dammit!

Wow! sad news and I just spoke to you this morning and you kept tight lipped. I understand and respect your feelings, now I have to find another way to celebrate my birthday which always seemed to fall on the MBB weekend. I'm sure we will cross paths along the way we are only 150 miles apart. Toni and I thank you and Brenda for your warm hospitality

Ron, I completely understand. I know the work and effort that you and Brenda put into it and I'm thankful for every year we've been there. Thank you for all you guys have done and don't cross out me just showing up at your door that weekend. It's just habit now. ;)

Any of y'all are welcome anytime at all our door is always open. While there still is a big Mustang show in town that weekend some of y'all may still want to come to town. An informal get together would certainly not be out of the question. Cars come and go, good friends stay forever.

I think I will keep my reservations then. Probably come down after kids get out of school. We should get together for dinner that weekend.

we were only able to attend once but had a truly great time. I understand your position and regret that we couldn't have attended more of them. God Bless you and your family!

Ron -- Sorry to hear that you are not going to host the event this year. Dawn and I feel fortunate to have made last year's Blast. It was, in my opinion, a nice little get together... And a great way for us to visit with old and new friends.

Thanks for the hard work that you've put into the event.

Glenn
