Thinking new carb time for Red

I have never really like the Edlebrock 500cfm POS that Red has been running with since day one. How about a Holley 600?

Do you have one? Try it. I prefer the Edlebrock to the Holly. Kinda plug and play. the holly I had on the 65 I hated. Has a flat spot and I have replaced the ACC pump two times. I do like the double pumper though.

What don't you like about the Edelbrock? Personally, I wouldn't replace it unless there was some compelling reason to do so.

Maybe I'm just bored...........I'm getting pretty crappy gas mileage (17 highway) with the AOD and can only point towards the carb. Maybe I should have my engine builder go through it instead? I'm lousy with carbs.

If I ever get my butt in gear and order my Summit 600 and Stealth manifold, you can check that carb out. I'm no good with carbs (or anything else) either, which is one the reasons I'm leaning towards the Summit.

I can never stay away from them, Pizza, Pasta and Tortillas. Unlike you boys, I love carbs. LoL

I cant really speak from experience, but from what I have read in the past, the Holley's are not user friendly but are highly tune-able compared to say a Edlebrock carb. On the other hand, I have read that the Edlebrock carbs are extremely user friendly (as it has been mentioned on this thread "plug and play") but unlike the Holley's, Edlebrocks are not very tune-able.

I guess it all comes down to driver preference. Shag has a Holley, if we ran a poll I would vote for Holley and then 2 out of 3 of the metal family members would be running Holley's. Awww, how bad a$$ would that be.

I concur with the two lines of thought.

I personally went with a Holley, not because I can tune it myself, but because it is tunable, and I admittedly will need somebody to do that for me. But at least I have that option.

I've had Holley's on everything and I find them to be very easy to play with. I have a 770 Street Avenger on my 429 and it was fine right out of the box. I put it on in 1999 and it still works great. I have a few Holley's sitting on the shelf waiting for the next project!

Well thanks ole buddy. Your opinion of the carb I am running makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I totally disagree. Edelbrocks are PLENTY tuneable, although not as much as a Holley. Holley's are not that user unfriendly, but usually produce more power.
