...my ass! Frigging neck surgery that is. :censored The cut incision and the operation itself was no biggie, but the dang pain running down the left side and behind the shoulder blade and then around and down my left arm and my damn thumb is numb and occasionally the other fingers start getting numb, sucks. :wtf I wonder if it has to do with the neurosurgeon mucking around inside the spinal cord or the titanium plate screwed into there? Pain pills don't do much for the nerve part either (lortabs). No sympathy from swmbo either. No sex for 6 weeks :roul I told her in bed one night that there are other things she could do...she just laughed and said good luck with that one :shee Well here is my nurse's pic, when swmbo is not around, I tried to train her to fetch drinks etc. But all she will do is roll over and curl the lip at me. :beer

Dunno ,much about neck/back surgery (the wife's had some done, but I've avoided it...so far!), but I have had treatment for some problems. I can tell you if the numbness in your hand is primarily in your thumb, index finger and middle finger it's from your median nerve. I have spurs on two vertebrae that make contact with the protective sheath around the median nerves where they exit the spine, both left and right sides. It was causing the sheathes the get inflamed and swell causing pressure on the actual nerve. That's the nerve that specifically goes to the mentioned fingers. It felt like part of my hand would go to sleep! Yikes! It became so bad on my left arm/hand it actually became painful all the way up to my elbow. I had to go in for a series of steroid shots in the spine over the course of a year in order to get it under control. My right side has started flaring up a little over the past few months. The doc told me shots or surgery. Gimme the shots!!!!

Again, I'm certainly no doctor but may have a little swelling due to the surgery which is causing pressure on the nerves. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery! :thu

Man I feel for you, uncontrollable back/neck pain sucks, I have a lot less pain from this bypass surgery now but I have never had any surgery with so many highs and lows--feeling great one day and totally wiped out and even body aches the next---I hope they find a way to relieve your pain soon.

The doc started giving me options about shots etc and I said lets just get the surgery and be done with it. He said the shots would help but the problem won't go away without the surgery it would keep coming back.
