Throttle return spring kits

What's your opinion on them?

Yes, good thing to have?

It's nice to have but $ could be spent on something else?

If I had to choose between food and a throttle return kit, I'd buy the springs. My fat arse can go hungry, but "dead" is hard to recover from....and hitting a telephone pole at 110mph will do that.

I've had the throttle stick on me several times on my '66 Plymouth, thanks to the fine folks that only used one spring, and that was fun. Happened to me ONCE going down the highway (in a modern car) and that was enough for me. Carb'ed cars are much more prone to stick if the throttle isn't set up properly....so YES, buy it.

Spend the $10 and get a good set of springs. Makes no difference which ones you use, just use two. Each setup is a bit different as most do pull from the intake bolts. That Holley setup does look good and priced the same as others. Without a spring, it is only the shear fear of dieing that will force you to reach down to the gas pedal and pull it up to slow down when the spring breaks.

I have had single springs break.....never had either of the double spring sets like Opentracker pictured break.

I use the same dbl springs John posted. A single spring is asking for trouble. I have 2 extra sets in the track box just in case.

Went to a local auto parts store to pick up a couple things for our afternoon project (putting the carb back on), and saw the double spring (one inside the other) on the shelf so picked one up. :vic

Thanks guys!

Here is my setup, Cheapo Mr Gasket kit from autozone.
