Tire Pressure

I got new (sort of) wheels and tires (brand new) for my Vert and now I'm questioning tire pressure: Do I use the recommended pressure from Ford, The maximum tire pressure form the tire company, or something in between. The car is driven on nice dry days (the top hasn't been up in at least 3 years), and the longest trip I make with it is around 300 miles.

I will post updated pictures when I get her all cleaned up.

I went against the grain and did not go with Magnums or Torque Thrusters. I actually found a very nice set of 73 Mach I wheels (slotted mags)complete with the original center caps. Using 400, 600, and 800 grit sandpaper i was able to clean/polish them up. I wrapped them with Firestone/Firehawk/Indy 500 tires RWL, and the look is total old school.

I'll post picts soon. It's supposed to be in the 60's here on Tuesday, so I should be able to clean it up......
 
Everything I read on tires says to put the pressure at the recommendation for the car by the manuf. as almost any tire can be used on almost any car. I bought a used Miata and immed. pumped the tires up to their recommended psi of 32, rode like a rock. Read the car tag = 26psi, no wonder. As you can see it is based on car wt. probably (2300lbs.), problem with the old mustangs is their original tires were bias ply which throws a question of would new tech tires be the same? I'd test between 28-32 and see if the car feels mushy or hard.

Good choice.
 
I air them to the max and then run them over some wet pavement to leave a track. I then adjust the pressure so I get a good flat tread pattern on the pavement. That works for best wear. For a softer ride, lower the pressure but not so much that the tread pattern begins to look odd.

+1. This is the right way to set correct tire pressure.
